FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: How do I find a critter by the show it was on, or by its species?

A: Currently we do not have a means to search the entire site (if you would like to be notified when this feature is implemented, please sign up for our newsletter). In the meantime, you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way (by which I do NOT mean, by the way, that you should email me about it without even looking!!!!): manually.

  1. Use your browser's "find" function. Every browser i've ever used has had a "Find" function; in both Netscape & Internet Explorer (gah) it is located in the "Edit" menu; on a PC, you can also press "Ctrl-F" to bring up the search window, on a Mac you can press "Command-F". America Online & Web TV users: you're on your own. If you don't know & can't figure out how to find text on a web page, please contact somebody at your internet company and ask them for help, NOT ME.
  2. Visit each critter page, and try to "find" the critter's species or the name of the show it was on on each page. For example, if you were looking for the name of the mouse on The Mouse and the Monster, you would visit each of the main critter lists (A-D, E-L, M-R, and S-Z) performing a "Find" for the word "Monster" or the phrase "Mouse and the Monster" on each page until you got your answer. If you were looking for all the ferret names we have, you would search for the word "Ferret" on each page.
  3. Tip: Skip pages which probably will not include the critter you're looking for. If you are looking for the name of a critter that was on a T.V. Show, you do not need to look on the Redwall pages.
  4. If you still can't find the critter you're looking for, submit it to "Mystery Critters". It's almost certain that if a critter isn't on my list, I don't know it, so just emailing and asking me for the answer won't do either of us any good. Using the submission form will make things go a lot more smoothly for both of us!

Q: I can't find the critter I'm looking for. Can you just send me the name?

A: No. Well, i can, but i won't. If the name is on my list, there's no reason you can't find it yourself; that's why it's all posted here on the web! See the previous section, "How do I find a critter by the show it was on, or by its species?" for tips on how to find text on a web page. If the name is NOT on my list and you would like to submit it, please use our submission form. If you ask about or try to submit a name that is already on my list, i will just refer you back to this page.

Q: What species are covered by the scope of "critter"?

A: This is covered in-depth in the Critter Information Center, which you can get to from any of the critter pages by clicking on [WHAT IS A "CRITTER"?] in the menu at the top of each page.

Q: Would you send me a list of stores where I can buy character-related products?

A: No. I am not in the business of selling animal-related products (at least not yet). In order for me to come up with such a list, i would have to do what you should do for yourself -- look in the yellow pages, conduct web searches, ask friends, go to the mall, etc.. I just curate a web site, i do NOT do extensive legwork for lazy people! If you are looking for collectibles, i highly recommend ebay.

Q: I'm writing a paper for school. Will you do my research for me?

A: No way! Do your own research! And don't do it on the internet, cuz you're liable to find false information! Get off your duff and go to the library!!!

Q: How do I submit a name to your list?

A: I have a nifty submission form all set up to make this process easy for both of us! Please always use this form when making submissions; the reason updates have been so infrequent in the past is thaty i spend so much time slogging through unclear and/or incomplete submissions!

Q: How do I offer a correction or addition to an existing entry?

A: You can use the submission form to give me additional or corrected information on entries that are already on my list. PLEASE don't send any info you're not sure about! If you think you vaguely remember something differently from a movie you watched 5 years ago, please don't write me about it until you watch the movie again & make sure you remembered right.

Q: How do I request additional information on an existing entry?

A: You can use the submission form to request additional information about any name, such as a critter's breed. If the information is not already on the page, chances are i don't have it; so the best i can do is add an "information request" to the critter's entry & hope that someone comes along that has the answer. If you need the info in a hurry, there's a pretty good chance i won't be able to help you here.

Q: How do I respond to an information request?

A: Use the submission form, and please keep in mind that, as with making submissions and/or corrections, we are not really interested in vague memories or guesses!

Q: Would you be interested in a banner exchange, or in advertising our product on your site?

A: I don't do banner exchanges, as i have no banner to exchange. I make no money off my traffic (of which i already have lots, thanks), so i have no need to generate any more. However, i am currently looking into acquiring a reseller's license; once i get one, i will be selling products which i have tried & believe my readers would enjoy. So rather than advertising your product, i might be willing to sell it for you. I must warn you tho that if i don't like your product, i won't sell it. I don't need money badly enough to waste my readers' time by trying to sell them stuff i don't think they'll like.
