As much as possible you must only obtain fresh blue crabs. If you will buy those dead crabs it might upset your stomach or worse get poisoned. By fresh it means those crabs that are alive or thriving. If you want to make sure everything is good then make sure you will get those crabs that are quite aggressive and always moving. Another indicator of crabs that are in good condition is a complete set of legs that they have. This only signifies that they were not obtain in a forceful manner.
The manner of cooking them is also easy. You might find them weird in their appearance but you can be assured that they have a palatable taste once cooked. One of the prevalent way of cooking it is through steaming in which you can obtain their meat then add some butter and line juice to it. The same process can be applied to the whole crab. Oftentimes their coloration starts to become orange once they are already cooked. You can steam and add some butter to most seafood however this should not be done with little ones. Hence, for blue crabs it would be best to fried them.
